SEL’s Electrical Substation is a critical component of its electrical generation, transmission, and distribution system. The primary functions of SEL’s substations are to transform voltage levels, facilitate control and protection of electrical circuits, and ensure efficient and reliable power delivery
Transmission Substations
Connect two or more transmission lines. Perform voltage transformation and switching functions.
Construction and Installation
- Site Preparation: Clear and grade the site, construct foundations and access roads
- Site Preparation: Clear and grade the site, construct foundations and access roads
- Cabling and Wiring: Lay down power cables, control cables, and communication lines.
Operation and Maintenance
- Monitoring: Continuously monitor substation performance using SCADA and other monitoring tools.
- Upgrades and Expansion: Plan for future upgrades and expansions based on load growth and technological advancements
Safety and Compliance
Implement safety protocols and provide personal protective equipment (PPE) to personnel. Ensure ongoing compliance with all relevant regulations and standards. Develop and practice an emergency response plan for incidents like equipment failure or natural disasters.
